Best shower drains systems

Shower Drain systems for your household

When it comes to shower drains for wet rooms, there are only three choices between which you can choose: the traditional point drains (which can be found in most of the households), the ready-made shower room floors (which come with traditional drains incorporated), and linear or channel drains (long and narrow profiles which don’t collect the water straight into the sewage pipe). Taken into consideration that the ready-made floors are, basically, all about traditional drains, our customers need to choose only between two.

And which one is the best? The traditional point drain or the linear one?

As the name suggests, the traditional drain is the one used by most of the customers. Fairly easy to install, fairly low maintenance, it has been around for decades. Over the course of time, some adjustments and improvements have been made, of course. But the basic design has remained the same. As far as these types of shower drains are concerned, they usually come in round or square shapes and are usually placed in the middle of the wet room (or thereabout). And while they do their job fairly well, they are prone to becoming faulty sooner rather than later.

And that is because they lead the water straight into the sewage pipe, which means that the impurities settle into the pipe, thus clogging it. And that is why this type of shower drain system is considered obsolete. With the clogging of the drain come all sorts of other problems, of course, such as overflowing, flooding, and infiltration.

The latter one also occurs because of the positioning of the drain itself. Because its shape and because of where it needs to be placed, the floor needs to have a concentric inclination towards it. And if the tiles of the wet room floor aren’t placed correctly, the water can and will become stagnant beneath them, instead of flowing into the drain.

In this way, the better alternative more and more of our customers consider is the one of the linear or channel drains. As said, these are long and narrow profiles which collect the water on a larger area and not directly in the sewage pipe. For this reason, with these types of shower drains the risk of clogging is diminished, since the impurities settle on the profile rather than in the pipe. Furthermore, because of their special design, the channel drains can handle larger flows of water and are very low maintenance – to prevent clogging, one only needs to wipe the profile with a piece of cloth from time to time. But these aren’t the only advantages the linear drains have over the traditional point ones. The risk of infiltration becomes inexistent when having this type of drainage system, because of the shape and of the positioning of the drain itself. Placed beside one of the wet room walls, the floor needs just a small and imperceptible tilt towards a single direction.

Crystal clear water in the easiest of steps

Published by:

If you believe that the most important part of a swimming pool is, well, the part that holds the water, then you can think again. The real heart of any swimming pool is the sand filter pump, which maintains the water as clear as crystal. In this way, when combined with other features such as the disinfectant (which kills the bacteria and smaller organisms), the water needn’t be changed on a daily basis.

And while you can purchase new sand filter pumps from us, here is the most important thing you need to do in order to prolong the life of your already bought pump: just backwash it from time to time, in order to remove all the impurities gathered in it.

This isn’t such a difficult job and you can do it yourself, without the help of any kind of professional – any kind of sand filter pump is low maintenance, from this point of view. Find more info.

There are two types of backwashing which can be used in order to clear the impurities and prolong the life of the pump – and these types of backwashing depend on the valve the pump uses. However, before beginning, you should make sure that the pump is turned off.

If the pump has a side valve, unlock the T handle and put the air bleeder in the open position. With a hose, start pumping water in it – it takes about 3 minutes until the water becomes crystal clear. However, if this doesn’t happen from the first try, repeat the process. Once the water has become clear again, turn the T handle in its initial position and start the pump. The time needed for cleaning the pump depends on the dimension of the pool.

But how can you know that the impurities have been released, other than the quality of the water? Well, if the pressure is high, after turning the T handle to its initial position, then there are still impurities which block the water – so the process needs to be repeated. If the water pressure is low, then the sand filter pump is already clean and you can use the pool once again.

The other type of backwashing comes when the pool has a multivalve pump system. In this case, the T handle should again be turned and the water should again flow. Afterwards, the valve should be turned in a different position, so that the backwashing may happen.

You can realize if you were successful by either verifying visually the clarity of the water, or by either verifying the pressure of the water. Once the pump was cleaned by all its impurities, you can turn the T handle and the valve in their initial positions.

As said, these types of pumps are low maintenance – however, they do have a life expectancy of their own. In such cases, it may be useless to try backwashing. So, if the pressure is still high no matter how many times you tried backwashing, you might just have to replace the sand from thesand filter pump or even the pump itself. In such cases, rest assured – it will be quite a small investment.

Drainage solutions for a modern household

Published by:

When it comes to choosing the perfect wet room drain system for the house, most people tend to underestimate the importance of this system. And that is why they almost always leave this choice for the last (when moving to a new home, when renovating, and so on). And this, on most occasions, doesn’t work to well for them – the drainage system needs to be chosen among the first ones, even before choosing the colour of the tiles of the wet room.

And this is very important, since your relaxation depends on this apparently insignificant system. Just imagine completely renovating the wet room and then searching for a modern drainage system – if what you seek doesn’t fit, you’ll have to settle for something else. And you wouldn’t want that, a less performant drain system. You wouldn’t want to take a shower and be stressed about the water overflowing, just like you wouldn’t want to take a bath with the rancid smell of stagnant water ruining your relaxation.

Thankfully, you have come to the right place, where you can find the most modern and elegant solutions for your household. We have all sorts of wet room drain systems, from the classic traditional point ones, to the linear drains (which are the latest that technology has to offer). In-between, we can also offer you ready-made shower room floors, which are exactly what the name suggests – floors for the shower cabin, with an incorporated traditional point drain.

When choosing the perfect drain system for your wet room, you need to take into account several aspects. For example, larger families (and especially families with children) should consider purchasing drains which collect water on a larger area. Another aspect you should take into account is whether a model can be personalized or not. Then you also need to choose the material from which the drain is manufactured, the type of grating, and so on – so you need to put quite a lot of thought when purchasing a new drainage system. But rest assured – our teams of professional salesmen and technicians are waiting for your call, ready to guide you in the right direction. As far as wet room drain systems are concerned, you cannot find a better provider in the city.

We can say that most of our customers have decided to upgrade their old traditional point drains with the more performant linear drains. The channel drains are, basically, long and narrow profiles which collect the water on a larger area, thus reducing the risk of water overflowing and the risk of clogging.

Furthermore, these types of drains are elegant in their design and they can be as inconspicuous as possible – the narrower profiles can hardly be seen, being usually places beside on of the walls of the wet room or in one of the corners. But, at the same time, they can also add to the aesthetics of the wet room – just personalize them with different types of gratings, inscriptions, LED lighting, and so on.

By choosing these modern solutions, you will take the most comfortable and relaxing showers and baths ever – just like everybody should. So give us a call and find out what we can offer you – we are certain that our wet room drains will meet all your high standards. More tips…
